It is with great sadness that Katy announces the passing of Oz The Tin Man (“Wort”) on March 3, 2015. He suffered an inexplicable and sudden fracture of the P1 in his left front leg and was immediately and humanely euthanized with those who loved him watching over.

Wort was a 1997 Anglo Arabian gelding by Sidi of Magic and out of Regalbatim (TB). Katy began riding Wort when he was 5 years old and she was just 12. After a dabbling in endurance and enjoying a successful career in the dressage ring through Prix St. George and earning Katy her USDF Bronze Medal, Wort took to the cross country course and together he and Katy rose up the levels. The received many awards and accolades over the years and Wort acquired many devoted fans along the way who loved to watch him gallop and jump with a clear enthusiasm for his job.

In 2013 Wort accompanied Katy as she moved across the country to expand her eventing education and continued to compete on the East Coast. In 2014, he and Katy completed their first CCI3*** together at Bromont in Canada with the aid of Buck Davidson as their coach.

Wort will now rest in peace at his original home in California, Cedarhaven Performance Horses, where he will continue to be loved by all who knew him.
